The problem of mounting high-mass, high-magnification optical sights to the M1A/M14 rifle has been solved. The McCann Industries Tactical Solution (MITS) presents the shooter with a high quality production platform. This platform provides perfect alignment with a field mountable and dismountable attachment requiring only minor, non performing modifications of the weapon. McCann Industries research and development team has shown this approach to be simple and incredibly effective.
The only modification to the rifle requires machining of a dovetail and circular index grooves in the barrel immediately forward of the receiver. The material removed is of the same size and shape as the original dovetail for the hand guard retaining clip. This establishes the forward mount jack screw position that directs recoil loading away from the mount locating lugs. The forward mounting bolt in conjunction with the side and aft mounting bolts, creates a solid, vibration free support for the heaviest of optical sights. This three bolt pattern is an industry first.
The mounting bolts are held captive to the assembly. All surfaces are finished in a non-glare, field tough, parkerized/phosphate coating. Every aspect of our design has been reviewed by military and law enforcement professionals to assure reliability and field utility. With proper training and standard maintenance the system will repeat in sub-minute alignment with numerous mounting and dismounting of the unit.
Our thirty five year reputation as manufacturers of high quality firearms and innovative accessories is your guarantee of our commitment to providing our customers with unique and reliable products.
The M.I.T.S. is designed to insure proper ejection of the spent casings and to allow wide range of eye relief settings. Note the bolt jackscrew assembly at the forend of the mount which allows the operator to firmly lock the base to the mounting block. This, in combination with the side and aft mount bolts is an industry first. It essentially "weld" the optical base to the mounting blocks and the rifle.
