M-14/M1-A carbon fiber rifle chassis night vision ready
M-14 Stock's made from carbon fiber have not been available till now. McCann Industries has hit another one out of the ball park with this Ultra Light Weight and Hi-Tech master piece. These stocks are not chopped matting from a gun and they are not a blend of fiberglass and carbon, but carbon only with resin.
Comfort of the shooter is paramount! When a shooter is comfortable he is more consistent because he will return to that comfortable position without effort. Enhanced comfort along with the lighter weight of the stock itself means less fatigue and more consistency and that will translate into more accuracy over longer duration. Another really interesting point: nearly all aluminum and steel stocks have another serious disadvantage which is MASS. In comparison this CARBON fiber stock has such low mass it retains far less heat. So if an operator is on patrol, guard, embassy duty or any place at the ready, the rifle will either cook you or make your hands and body cold because of the heat sinks.
Picture this, you have anywhere between two and four pounds LESS metal in front of you absorbing all the radiant heat from the sun… Guess what? Your whole body is cooler. If you get the chance to fall back from the line to rest, your rifle cools down faster due to the thermal properties of the low mass and the material selection. Carbon fiber simply will not hold heat as long as steel and aluminum given even vaguely comparable mass with this mass. And when it's colder than a bitch's wit… it won't bleed "YOUR" heat from you.
Cold climate affects personnel adversely in many of the same ways hot climate does. High mass metallic rifle stocks sink heat from your body… Heat is calories… It takes food to make calories…food equals weight. More food to stay warm means less ammo you can carry.
Makers of metallic stocks fail to mention to there customers that aluminum expands 5 times more in all directions than carbon fiber. Thermally carbon fiber is nearly dead compared to aluminum and is much closer to steel in elongation or expansion. Carbon fiber resin compounds are a better match to steel than aluminum. Here are some numbers: a twenty inch long piece of aluminum will expand .033 thousandths of an inch when taken from 0° F to 140° F. Carbon and resin depending on the type about .004 thousandths in the same length at the same temperature range.

Another humorous thing that metallic stock makers fail to admit or mention in published literature is: All rifles are bedded. Two very famous makers claim no bed is required. It is a fact that any place or point of contact is a "bed". Epoxy bedding is best unlike bolts, screws, v blocks, yokes and clamps. It forms nearly a 100% bed that does not pinch, distort, or load any part of the action or barrel assembly. Remember nothing is perfect and when you bolt together a clam shell around a barreled action something's got to give. It is a fact something will be under tension, so why not make it easy? "Bed it" with epoxy.
There are so many reasons for owning a McCann Industries Carbon fiber stock it's tough to pick a starting point:
-Inline night vision ready -AR-15 pistol grip compatible -AR-15 butt stock compatible -Free floating barrel -Increase Rigidity -Cools quickly -Keeps the weight down -Weighs 24oz. -Lightest M-14/M1A in the world -Accepts most SOPMOD accessories -Increased Accuracy -Multiple configurations -Available without accessory rails -Sniper -Battle Rifle -Carbine -Balance of price, performance and weight -AMERICAN MADE
The truth is men and women hump/carry the rifle far more hours and miles than they shoot. Weight savings should be looked at this way. Every two pounds taken from the rifle will let you carry thirty five extra rounds of ammo. Ask any serious shooter and they will say "more ammo is gooooood!" There are two benefits, less weight or less need for re-supply… both distinct benefits in combat. If you had a platoon sized element of 32 personnel, this could amount to firepower advantage of one thousand, one hundred and twenty rounds all at no weight penalty. This much 7.62mm is serious firepower!
Only four things are used to make this stock:
- Carbon fiber
- Resin
- Hardened 7075 T6511 aluminum
- And the desire to make the most comfortable, lightweight, strong and user friendly M14/M1A chassis in the world.
